Haunted Hands :: an artist highlight

Leon Seeker
Innovation and imagination are often a hard thing to reconcile. The ability to meld something fantastic within the real world, to shape the mind’s image into a tangible, audible, or visual piece. However, up-and-coming artist Leon Seeker from Georgia (the country, not the state) makes drawings that I feel do exactly that. Unconventional, bold, and just really damn interesting, these pieces ofter commentaries on the world and the mind that are not overly didactic, but free and romantic, grisly and fantastic. This art is born as some beautiful hybrid living somewhere between the brilliant surrealism of Joan Miró i Ferrà, the detail and line finesse of expressionist Egon Schiele, and the more post-modern aesthetic of Jean-Michel Basquiat.
